There is a British film, directed by Tony Richardson in 1962, called, "The Loneliness Of The Long Distance Runner". It stars, a then very young, Sir Tom Courtenay in the lead role as Colin Smith.
This excellent photograph captures the essence of marathon running and evokes for me, a UK (Welsh)visitor, what running through the boroughs of the Big Apple must be like.
Blurred movement, taut, defined musculature, the lengthened shadow cast across the never-ending tarmac. He crosses one "finishing line" drawn along the road; many more lay ahead. The runner, pitted against himself, oblivious of the crowd and they, in return, not acknowledging his supreme efforts.
You can be justly proud of this composition.

that one woman on the far right seems to notice his supreme efforts... unless she recognizes someone just beyond the frame...
